To facilitate literacy and numeracy, all Transitional Kindergarten through 2nd grade students at Center Street School attend school on an Early Bird or Later Gator schedule. in which student arrival and departure times are staggered. With only 1/2 the number of students in these blocks, students can receive intervention and extension in a classroom with a 50% increased teacher-to-student ratio.
From the beginning of school through Open House, TK-2 teachers assess students to create groups that will optimize student achievement. While parent's schedules may be considered in the decision to place a student on an Early Bird or Later Gator schedule, ultimately students must be grouped to optimize each child's learning.
